phone calls that wake you from a wonderful sleep at nine o'clock in the morning are never usually a good thing, unless said phone call is about you're new job!
and when it is closely followed by a phone call from your current job to congratulate you and confirm that it's true, then you know for absolute certainty that the transfer is going to happen this time!
this shall be no Queen's Plaza debacle, no. this time around, i HAVE the confirmation from TWO sources. it's a pity really, because i'm giving up the opportunity for a mini promotion at work in order to get away from my boss and night fill. is that wrong? should i just take his crap and screw the day job that'll work better around uni? nah, fuck that. i want a day job, plain and simple. i want the opportunity to go to parties or dinner with friends. or even start going out to the cinema again with pots!
this means i must track down some day care facility who will be able to take care of the monkey on my days at work... oh gods, this is going to be painfully expensive. even with the bloody rebate Captain Costello has so 'generously' given us.
actually, that reminds me. i should probably tottle off and have a look at this shiny new budget the Captain has brought down upon us and see what's in it for me to cry about.
in the mean time, i shall continue with my "I-HAVE-A-DAY-JOB" dance.
til next....

He's been applying for jobs and stuff with a couple of interviews etc but it's now getting to the point that he's now looking at level 1 IT helpdesk jobs because we need the money...
Coles actually haven't given him a shift in almost a month despite promising him at least 20 hours regularly per week since before December.

yeah, coles are somewhat cash strapped at present, which is why they're inviting this takeover from Westfarmers. i must have been really lucky to have been scoring anywhere between 22 and 35 hours per week as a casual. i was even filling in for my line manager when he was on holiday (but i didn't get offered permanent until february, and then it didn't come into effect until late march).
if he can get entry level IT jobs, then do it. i'm sure he can easily scam his way to a better pay level. :)

at least with front end he was getting a shift a week despite the dept manager being a complete bitch (not just to staff, but to customers as well) which is why Tom changed to night fill after 2 years.
Coles is always cutting wages budgets over cutting other expenses. My ex-fiance had over 6 weeks of time-in-lieu saved up because they wouldn't pay him overtime...then they wouldn't cash it out when he went overseas nor did they even allow him to take any.
*sigh*
if it's anything like looking for houses it's going to take a lot more patience.
See you Sunday :)

He refuses to work at woolies mostly because their agreement is worse than Coles'.
He's signed up with this recruitment firm yesterday (who have tried calling him back today - pomising I hope) but the rather amusing thing I'm finding is that it's called ManPower - I immediately think of the male revue like Aussie Thunder or something like that...what makes it worse is that it was a chick who called him back...
Whilst Tom assures me that there *should* be no stripping or semi-nakedness involved in the jobs he's applied for with them, it does make me wonder :P

try the Paddington Kindy. [20+ years ago it was fabulous!] not sure what is actually is now, though. used to be Creche and Kindergarten, which meant minimum 3 years old. might have changed over the intervening years.
