Got to meet Tim Freedman of The Whitlams again yesterday. He was doing an 'in store' for the release of the new Whits album LITTLE CLOUD. It was funny. He started off really not wanting to be there, then kinda got more into it about halfway through the set.
There was this girl and her mum at the the front right against the barrier who got heckled by Tim because the mother had confided that her daughter had been conceived to a Whiltams track. Turns out it was the entire Introducing The Whitlams album. Tim had a great time embarrassing the two (mostly the mother) of them.
I'm also impressed at how Tim has perfected that vacant camera stare for the fans, it was impressive and amusing to watch. Though, there were a few quite smarmy smiles thrown in there to break the monotony. Such smarm.
I bought my copy of the CD and promptly scored a free ticket to go to their gig at The Zoo in May. I'm a little worried that it's going to clash with something else I'll be doing during that month. I really hope it doesn't. Anyway, I got Tim to sign my CD and the ticket. So, even if i don't go or choose to sell the ticket, it's at least autographed. The other problem I have is finding someone to come along to the concert with me if i end up being able to go. I've never scored a free ticket to a concert before. Im pretty chuffed.
It must have been my lucky day yesterday, because later in the afternoon I get a call from an old highschool friend asking me if I wanted to share her double pass to AN INSPECTOR CALLS at the Lyric for tonight. Of course I said YES! So i'm going to wander over to QPAC this evening and endulge in a little bit of culture *giggle*. It'll be nice to see something other than an amateur production for a change.
Now: to drink my coffee.
til next....

Another friend tells me I have to go, anyway - so, unless I'm working (and I'll probably beg off for the night, if called - see you there?
