Why do I feel like I'm the only person in the world who wasn't excited by the release of the new Harry Potter book?

*edit*: see, I'm not interested in reading the books (presently, I"ve more important books to read by better authors**). I have only very simple reasons for even wanting to see the films. They are: Alan Rickman, Jason Isaacs and Gary Oldman (thus far, I'm sure there'll be others).

I'm not excited either. I like the series and did buy the latest the day it was released, but I didn't feel the need to reserve it and I'm not in a rush to read it all in the first day. I have better things to do with my life ... like watch Frasier. :)

Harry Potter pfft. I dislike the books so why would I be excited? And from the accounts I've heard from adult readers it wasnt that good anyway *shrugs*

You're all acting like you're all high and mightly and above the rest of us because you think it's lacking in quality or something. (not you kits. others)
I've never paid for a book myself, but I also got ahold of them before the hype began, and i have always thoroughly enjoyed the books. They've always felt to me like a modern version of Enid Blyton.
and as to adult readers, well, theyre not supposed to be adult books. (though, i admit theyre moving down that path slightly in theme, but theyre still for children nontheless)
dont get me wrong, people are entitled to their opinion, and i am well aware that some people are not giong to like the books. but they dont have to act like theyre above others because of it.

Like you said everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I have no interesting in reading the books. I am not acting like I am above everyone else, -I- am not excited because -I- don't read them. And Kits question was "who else wasn't excited by the release." I know it's a kids book but millions of adults read kids books all over the world.
