you know, i think i may have overreacted due to the surprise of actually being called for an almost real job (the pay is only $17.50p/h, but it's better than nothing).
i spent some time with Patrick yesterday evening talking about the customer service jobs i've had that would be relevant to the position, and despite the limited number and the large amount of time that has passed since then, i think we were quite successful at refreshing my memory. so then we bought a bottle of Famous Grouse, poured one glass each and watched a dodgy horror movie called White Plague, following that up with an early stumble into bed (9:30pm!).
this morning i've spent the last hour or so brainstorming my customer service stories. slightly tweaking them to make them sound better than they actually were, and discovering that i was actually a pretty decent sales rep and that i have more stories than i thought. i've now got roughly one story for about everything they could ask: negative to a positive (2), upsell (2), tough customer (1, but can also be cross referenced into negative to positive). and one other that fits into a couple of categories. so, hopefully i've covered myself with enough material to help me out with the interview.
i'm also going to have to practice my phone voice, because that's the MAIN reason for it (as well as discovering my previous skills, but that can also be done face to face). it's a call centre job, it's a practical interview. it's probably the only time i EVER get a practical interview. it's the only time where the employer seems to think that a practical interview is really quite a good thing. this makes it a little more nerve wracking, but i've worked on phones before; as a telemarketer and as an admin assistant at uni for our union rep, helping her book the bands for O-Week and various other gigs throughout the year. Manni is soo difficult to deal with. oooh, another story! "How I dealt with Manni from Pushworth". *snorfle*
the interview is at 11am, wish me luck guys.
til next....
