in other news:

i'm back from three weeks in smokey victoria, where the weather started off kind (cool and requiring jumpers) and ended with much hatred (stinking hot with blackouts and lots of ick). overall the time was good. there will be pictures soon.

my first shift back at work was busy with excellent news: i've been asked to go permanent! knowing the advantages (and the disadvantages) i said yes.

pots music career seems to have hit the ground running. he's got two gigs this weekend which is teh cool and teh bad. but at least it's money.

the monkey has his second birthday tomorrow. sort of hard to believe it's been two years. i've done a lot of things in that time, and a lot of nothing. unfortunately for me, it's the nothing that shows.

i was going to gripe about a few things, but have chosen to do that another time. it's far to hot right now despite it being 1am (in the morning, for redundancy) and i really can't be bothered. the heat and work have taken away most of the energies i require to really express my dissatisfaction and annoyance at a thing or two. plus, it's unlikely that it'll affect anyone, it's more of a 'gotta get it out' kind of thing. you know how rants are :)

i shall endeavour to drop by at some point during the day. seems to me like everyone wants to do something for australia day. there just aren't enough hours in a day!!!!

I wasn't sure if you were going to be back for the monkey's birthday, but as I am currently on doubles everyday for the next two weeks, I have no time to come see you and him. say happy birthday for me, and I'll get around to it properly in a few weeks or so.

awsome news about permanent too! is it permanent full time? part or what? and do you get to change to days yet?

part time. the full time hours are horrid, and i don't think they're ready to have more than two full time fill staff.

will you be at simm and steaves at any time on friday? i plan to drop round briefly in the arvo (prior to patrick's gig), so perhaps i'll see you?

Happy birthday to the monkey and congrats on reliable employment arrangements! What are the implications of the new arrangements as far as Super Bowl outings go?

well, i'll know more when i've signed the contract. but what it means is that i'll definitely be working 5 nights a week, with alternating nights off each week. i think i am required to work every second saturday, which could mean i get every other friday off. i'll know more soon. but hopefully it means i'll be able to do superbowl again! even if i have to chuck a sickie to do it.

Speaking of, there's a few of us who gather under the statue of said personage in Centenary Park (Valley, right opposite Cathedral Place) around five, five-thirty to have a few drams, read some poetry and generally be Scottish at people. You'd be perfectly welcome, I'm sure.

sounds like fun. i might pop along briefly before going to work (and i'll make a note that this entry was written yesterday,so it's the sprogs birthday today, not tomorrow. oh well.)
